Weekly Post. Sunday, 10/24/21 was United Nations Day. The history of the United Nations is worth understanding. Start with Woodrow Wilsons Fourteen Points as Principles for Peace, move onto The League of Nations, then the United Nations and the UN Declaration of Human Rights. All these documents and organizations were meant to move us closer to world peace. But actually living up to them continues to be challenging and the US has often failed to meet the obligations it expects from others. The theme of “rules not applying to us”, on an individual and global level, continues to be a significant obstacle to pursing a more just, equitable, and peaceful world. Many still believe that some lives matter less than others. This attitude must change.
