Program development and implementation is something I enjoy doing. It involves listening to people, determining the needs of the community, and developing programs to meet those needs. Doing so led me to develop the Building Peace class which I began teaching in 2011. The same process led me to develop and teach Ecopsychology in 2013 and the Human Rights class in 2018. They are all interdependent and I consider Human Rights to be the foundation for Building Peace and Ecopsychology. The classes address some of the most urgent issues we face. We have also been confronted with the COVID-19 Pandemic. A major lesson to take away from this is interdependence. As we have seen we cannot be concerned only with ourselves. This is a global issue that we all have to work to resolve. Tuesday, 9/21/21 is the annual International Day of Peace. It is heartening to see what they have chosen for this year’s theme. We are on the right path. We just need more to get involved in working towards creating a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.
