This is a complex issue particularly with the politicization of “illegal aliens”. No humans are “aliens”. Constructing people as “the other”, and using them as scapegoats, is an old and effective political strategy used to unify people against a perceived threat. These ‘others” are our sisters and brothers. It is time we hold ourselves accountable for the conditions we have created and work to rectify these injustices. Speak up. This does not happen unless we remain silent.
