11/23/20 – Weekly Post: Told you so is not enough nor is it in the least bit satisfying. What would be gratifying would be committing to waking up to the damage that hateful rhetoric inflicts on so many particularly when it comes from people in leadership positions. People have a pronounced tendency to follow the leader and the examples they set. It is time to hold ourselves and each other accountable for the harm caused. Cultivate an informed, assertive compassion and refuse to accept or participate in anything that denigrates or inspires hatred towards others. The template is there in the foundation of so many of our ethical/religious systems: treat others the way you want to be treated. You don’t have to be perfect you just have to commit to practicing it.
