8/17/20 – Weekly Post: “Women and Peace Continued”

Weekly Post:  Jeannette Rankin is quite an inspiring story.   Her position on nonviolence is particularly interesting.  Two of my favorite quotes from her are: “You can no more win a war than win an earthquake” and “War is the slaughter of human beings, temporarily regarded as enemies, on as large a scale as possible.” She had incredible insights that often made life challenging for her especially since she was a woman living in a time when her accomplishments were far outside the norm. It is difficult to live in the midst of insanity when you have such clarity but some manage to persist as a life affirming force.  Her efforts opened the door a bit wider for women.
